Hood to Higher Education
Inspiring organizations to develop culturally relevant practices through critical literacy.
Who We Are
Hood To Higher Education is a justice-centered organization committed to disrupting educational inequities through culturally grounded education, film, and community engagement. Our work centers Black, Latino, and system-impacted communities, supporting youth and adults through literacy, identity development, reentry-focused programming, and institutional change.

What We Do
We lead workshops and faculty training on how to implement culturally responsive teaching into curriculum.
We also provide youth from urban areas a guide on how to get into college, maintaining success while in college, and motivation for graduating college.
Why We Do It
We do this work because education should affirm identity, restore dignity, and create real pathways forward. Too often, marginalized and justice-impacted communities are denied spaces that honor their lived experiences. We believe critical thinking, cultural knowledge, and storytelling are essential to personal and collective liberation.
